nice morning surprise

looky what I woke up to one morning...and I do not usually read the paper, was getting ready to throw it away after hubby read it (he did not notice) and I was shocked...btw Tim did not know it was going to be in either...
nice surprise...

Timothy

starting a new series on my blog about different members of my family and decided to start with Tim...my son...and he is a really good son, takes care of his mom and dad, forgoing some personal time to do this too...always there when we need him...
I am so proud of the person he's become, he makes this momma's heart feel wonderful...
when he was in 6th grade at the school my kids attended, the teachers would pick one boy and one girl that they thought epitomized "student of the year..."  one day while at work in ICU of the hospital I get a phone call from the principal of the kid's school and I got a little worried...she was calling to say that
Tim was going to receive this award and my best friend's daughter got it also...to this day Tim and I will reminisce about going back to the school to see the award hanging in the office (if it is still there...)
he was editor in chief of the high school newspaper...
cute story...we had bought our new house, and they just built the new high school for our subdivision, and Tim's class would be the first of the 4 year class to graduate from there and they got to chose the mascot and the school colors...he did so well for high school...then went onto RCC and when we moved to Riverside, became the editor in chief of their newpaper and then got hired as an assistant to the professor...PE needed a freelancer and called RCC to see if there was anyone interested and so Tim freelanced for awhile holding down both jobs and then one day got a call that the PE wanted to hire him full time (with benefits) and the rest is history...
he loves entertainment, especially movies & comics and so I think it is special that he gets to write about what he is passionate about...
I wanted to recognize him for all he does for us and to know how proud of him I am...the day he came home and handed me his business card that the PE had printed up for him, oh my...still have the same card...
funny story...when he and his friend were at the 24 hour Avenger thing at the movies, I saw someone post, "OMG I just saw Tim Guy from the PE here."  Zoe thought it was funny that she knows a celebrity...
he and Stephanie had a long running entertainment show on RCC tv that was pretty popular till it got cut due to budget cuts...
this is their blog address that they still keep up with:
http://www.inscaped.com/

I was kind of surprised when one of my friends said, "oh I saw Tim on tv the other day."  they are still searching for a market to pick them up again...

here is his PE blog:
http://blog.pe.com/tim-guy/

he and his coworker like to try weird things and report on them, here is a link to bacon soda:

trying to find the link of them trying Jack in the Box's bacon shake...that one was hilarious...

this is the link where you can go ask Tim any question:

my next blog about Tim will be about Japan and how it happened to come about that he has been there twice...

what she wore Friday...

every school night it takes me a little time to help Zoe get all of her stuff out for school for the next morning...she has to be there so early that it is so much better to get everything out the night before...
if I get her clothes out, I have (HAVE to?) get the right dress to match the right leggings, and shoes and hair band, etc...so, tonight she came to me and said, "can I wear jeans and a tee tomorrow?"  I jumped at the chance not to have to get everything out...

Thursday & Friday...

Thursday was my usual babysitting day...it came very early as I did not sleep well the night before...it is a big deal right now, that sleep just seems to evade me...I can fall asleep all right (with the assistance of a sleeping pill) but then I wake up sometimes as early as 11pm (cause when I babysit the next day, I try to go to bed by 8:30 or so...so 11, and then all night I sleep for maybe an hour or so and then I am awake again...
so, Cj came and in his usual darling little self, crawls right up onto the couch, burrows his little head into the pillow and he is off to dreamland...so, I decided to try going back to sleep also and I was successful to get an hour...thank goodness...
the day did not go well...Cj was pretty good but he is much better when noone else is here...a couple of temper tantrums and peeing his pants made the day not so good...
hubby did take Cj to the duck park for an hour or so, and then at 12 when Samantha got off work at the preschool, she took Zoe and Cj to her school to see baby ducks and then ride the jury trolley that parks behind her school...
made homemade mac & cheese for dinner and was very happy to go to bed fairly early...
later after dinner we skyped with the little kids...

woke up Friday with a raging migraine but had dreams of getting a lot done today...decided to go ahead and do what I wanted to just to get it done...so off we went to the commissary (I wanted to get a tri tip roast for Memorial Day) and the commissary has the best ones...also stopped at Sam's to get charcoal and of course get hot dogs for lunch...come home and take a nap and sort of get rid of my headache...
made a great new recipe for dinner that everyone seemed to love...chicken and wild rice casserole...

while at Sam's 2 things happened: (copied from my FB)

raining in Mo Val this morning at the commissary and at Sam's...needed my jacket...heartwarming observation at Sam's today...(Mona P you will appreciate) 15 challenged young people with 4 caretakers all eating the pizza or hot dog deal (how can you go wrong for 1.50)...what got to me that the caretakers were very caring and it tugged at my heart just a tad...as they went by each kid they would pat... them on the back, cut their pizza for them, talked and laughed with each one...I have seen other caretakers be mean to their charges and this was so refreshing to see these kids happy, laughing and smiling and having a good time...this one kids was in a "hi, how are you?" mood over and over to me but, I was game as long as he was happy...I do not have the patience for this type of work but lots of kudos for these people today...
and then:
the other thing that happened at Sam's...Ross went to get charcoal while I went to stand in line for hot dogs...as I was passing him in line to get a table, he had everyone in line wave to me and call out to me...nice way to embarrass me, honey...

new hair cut

so the little princess who keeps saying she wants to grow her hair out and have it be long, came home from school today and declared that she needed a hair cut and she knew exactly how much she wanted cut off...I did agree she did need her bangs cut so, I paid for her to go to Super Cuts and she came home and it does look cute...we have a problem with her hair anyway, it always looks frizzy, no matter what we put on it...I have paid for expensive conditioners and leave in-s and it always looks weird...I bought a leave in from Wal Mart and it is not really working like I want it to...the last leave in I got before was from Super Cuts and a little expensive, but I am learning that cheaper is not always better when it comes to Zoe's hair...
do you like her dress?  a Hanna Andersson...love their Swedish knits so much...I bought 6 matching pieces to this dress and I am loving the fit on her...so so comfortable...and the weather here has been so cooperative with sundresses, in the high 90's...was down to 80's today and by Friday supposed to be in the 60's for a few days...man will I love that...

we went out to dinner tonight, thought we needed a night out...
Chili's was so good tonight...you have got to try their new "Big Mouth Bites," they're little hamburger sliders with bacon and carmelized onions, served with onion straws and ranch...ohhhh so good...Ross and Tim did the 2 for $20 dinner and with that you get a free appetizer so we got the "Texas Cheese Fries," and then I had a free coupon for an appetizer, so we got the "Loaded Potato Skins..." we had a couple of to-go containers, and have had our fill of bacon, cheese and potatoes...dinner came out to be $6 after my gift card...such a good night...

tomorrow?  tis a babysitting day...and I have no problem at all with babysitting Cj except for the getting up part...I have to get up about 4:30 for him as the other grandma drops him off on her way to work...it sure is not a problem for him...
4:30 am comes awful early, but I go to bed at 8:30 the night before to prepare...
Cj knows the drill, cutie pie that he is, gives other grandma a kiss and comes into Gracie jumping on him and licking his face, goes right to the couch without a word, puts his head on the pillow, I give him a kiss, take off his shoes and he is asleep that quickly...
he will sleep till about 9:30 every single time...

so, see he is not the problem, it is that I hate to get up that early, even tho some mornings I am already up, just don't want to be...
I started watching him after the new baby was born and Cj was jealous and to get attention from the other grandpa (he watches the kids while grandma works) he would do some naughty things...one time Grampy was in the shower and Cj mixed dish soap and slushy syrup and put it all over his sister's bed...so yeah...not real good...his favorite thing to do it take off all of his clothes and run out the door and run around their cul-de-sac, so they put locks up high where he could not reach them, now he goes out the windows...and he does not listen to them at all...
so, I said I would start watching him 2 days a week, and then they put him into preschool 2 days a week also...
now, for me I do not have one bit of a problem with him at all unless he has a watchful audience like if Zoe comes home from school early and especially if she brings a friend, then he will tend to act up...but usually he and I get along very well and he listens to Grandpa and me...

this was my goal list for yesterday...
so far so good...getting my goals done and it is only 8 am
1. Ross & Cj still asleep...check
2. set sprinklers in front...check
3. set sprinkliers in back...check
4. get meat out for dinner...check
... 5. start a load of laundry...check
6. typed up dinner blog for tonight...check
7. read Tim's blog...check
8. a little morning time to myself...priceless

rounded out today by going to Home Depot to get some dirt for vegetables and was going to get some
pumpkin seeds but they had some plants already started...am still going to get seeds I want Cj and Zoe to plant some for themselves...I have always had a pretty good garden going and at least 10 pumpkins a year...just did not do them last year...
the last thing I did today was finish up listing my items on Ebay...have already sold 2 items, hopefully they will all sell and I can build up Zoe and Sian's art class at the museum monies...

see ya tomorrow...

antler crap

I am over this...I am done D.O.N.E. (is that clear enough?) the audacity of some people never ceases to amaze me. we gave all we had and more than that, we gave when there was no more to give...we went over and above what we were supposed (or expected of us) to do and the throwing under the bus continues (in my whole life I have never been thrown under the bus so many times...) this one person I... am addressing needs to leave us alone from now on...YOU are not the boss of us, never were (tho you sure liked to think you were) and most certainly never will ever be, you do not even rate to be our friend...and to think we pay our good hard earned money to be treated this way...we pay our dues like everyone else, including the person I am directing this to, you are not better than us, and you need to quit acting like you are and start treating people with a little more respect...
the above was what I posted on my FB today...even tho we are essentially out of there, we still get the crap and always from the same person...I am tired of it...
when an ER leaves office they have the right to have a copy of their jewels...Ross ahead of time, ordered himself a "good" set...he went in today and asked for his jewels, he was refused...he asked again and again refused...so he called the current ER and asked for them...the ER said he could have them but someone refused to give them to him...
he finally got them in a very rude manner and in essence escorted out of the office...when he got them home, we saw that he was given a very cheap set with no inscription or anything (not what he ordered) and then someone called me to say that this person gave away the jewels that Ross had ordered...
it is so maddening to me that we are treated like this and were for an entire year, and now plus...I refuse to let this person do this to us again...one year was enough...one year of constantly following us around like a little puppy dog, telling us what we could do and what we couldn't...closing a door if we opened it, etc...
we pay our monies like everyone else to belong to a "social" club so I feel like we are paying good money for people to treat us like crap and that in itself is a travesty...that place does a lot of good, but there are too many people that get a power trip and think they are better than everyone else and they are not...just pisses me off...
ok off my soapbox...thanks for letting me vent...
btw...he took the jewels back and put them on the desk with a note, that said, "these are not the jewels I ordered and I want mine."
we shall see...

Whidbey Island

what is wrong with this picture?
here today? 96 degrees, tomorrow? 93
Whidbey today? 55 degrees, tomorrow? 53
why am I here? OMGoodness and I could be there right now...we were supposed to be there at this time till someone (wink wink) got sick...

sometimes I get real homesick (if you can call it that since I have never lived there save for an RV or a hotel) for Whidbey Island...love it there so much...
and I actually found it by accident...was researching Dutch towns in the US and came upon Oak Harbor...when we first got our RV and hubby asked where I wanted to go and I said, "Oak Harbor," he had never heard of it and so we went and fell in love and have been back many more times...
we were supposed to have taken another trip up there this month but got cancelled once hubby was in the hospital...
don't think we will be able to make it this year at all and that makes me sad...Zoe also loved it when we took her on our last road trip...

today (boring title)

last night I about freaked...I found one flea...

to everyone that knows me, knows how much I hate the summer I really H.A.T.E. it with a passion, the heat just zaps my energy, it leaves me felling crappy almost every day...this morning I woke up early and went out and watered both grasses (we just laid new seed) and I am determined to make it grow...I got my bed made and did all chores that would not wake up either hubby or son...and I was proud of myself...I even listed some more items on Ebay this morning while it was still cool...
I love this time to myself in the morning...it is cool and so quiet and I love it...
so Ross gets up this am about 8 and he always goes and gets the newpaper but this morning he got right in the shower and got dressed and I was like, ummm?  what is going on here?  and then he told me, "we're going to Wal Mart to get bug bombs, cause I know how much you hate fleas..."  he is right, if there is a flea anywhere near me, it will come looking for me...we have a bug service that comes once a month and does outside and we have Advantage on the dog plus a flea collar, but they still like my blood...

so we decided to go to Sizzler for their breakfast brunch before Wal Mart and Tim got up to go with us...I like their omelettes...
got our bug bombs and came home...
hubby of course went to bed for his 4 hour nap and for 3 hours I uploaded pictures to Walgreens to be developed...cannot wait to see them...this is how behind I was getting pics done...I wish there were an easier way...I had such a headache after being so intense on the computer and hubby wanted to go to the store, but I laid down instead and I think I actually slept for a little bit...
since it is so hot here today (96) I made tacos and princess came home just as I was finishing them and was starving so she was happy I made something she would eat...

princess is with her dad today and when she is gone I worry about her...last night she came home from her friend's house 2 doors up with a particularly bad migraine...she laid down and put a bag of ice on her head and fell asleep that way...as soon as Sam gets insurance Zoe needs to see her pediatrician...with all of her other problems we are suspecting she might also have a gluten intolerance...

hubby is trying a little more with me...after the 2 hospitalizations of his, we were not getting along all that well...I feel like he needs to take care of himself more and not end up hospitalized, but that is my opinion...all thru our marriage he has (or likes to think so) worn the "pants" in the family...but, when he is hospitalized so much, I have learned to do a lot more for myself and it is the Taurus in me that
makes me stubborn...when he is hospitalized so much, then I am in charge and I am not good at relinquishing the reigns when he feels better...we battle a lot over this and how he does not like to do anything around the house...if I can get him to do one chore, I feel extremely lucky...but, I also feel that say, I cook, then I should not be expected to clean up also...Tim does help a lot...
last weekend when MIL wanted to see her son, he told her, "make me up a honey do list and I will help you out while I am there."  he probably should not have said that where I could hear him...I must say that for the last week, instead of one chore, sometimes he will now do 2...and he did hold the baby a good part of the day yesterday while we were babysitting...
so, saying all of this, I am trying a little harder to get along better with him...

maybe better days are around the corner...

proud of myself

been a very busy girl today...babysat baby girl ALL day and she was pretty good, even took her to Target with us, Tim got her a few baby toys to look at and hopefully play with very soon...my favorite age is 3 months when they start to put things in their mouth etc...she is giving very good eye contact and smiling on cue, it is so cute...when Zoe got home she was thrilled to see baby girl still here and Zoe never gets her all to herself...she was fussy and Zoe put her in the stroller and took her for a walk on our street and she settled right down, was amazing...Zoe loves her little cousin so much...Tim is always leary of babies and today it made my heart feel good...he went and got her out of her car seat and she snuggled right into his shoulder...awwww...
so after she got picked up, got pizza for dinner, I know I cheated but give me a break...then I listed a ton of stuff on ebay...the money I make on ebay either goes back into clothes for the 4 kids or it goes for art lessons for Si and Zoe...this summer Si will be joining Zoe at the art museum and I want to be ready to pay for them...it is nice to have a little of my own money even tho ebay is very hard work...
oh yeah almost forgot...very important...I got all of my blogs caught up, after a long time of neglecting them it feels so good that my personal one, my sewing one, my Disney one and my cooking one are all caught up...proud of myself...
and I also have been playing catch up around the house too...last weekend, I painted the 2 porch swings and they look so nice...

ladybug what she wore

another piece to the ladybug line from Crazy 8...love this line so much...

baby girl

today we are watching baby girl so the other grandma can go to the sir show at March ARB...Samantha, Zoe and their friends are also going...

baby girl sure likes to be held a lot but otherwise things are all right...she is getting so big already...see that double chin?

our watch dog...

sitting on the couch so quietly, Ross is still asleep, I am on the computer and front door is open (we have a security door) and this guy comes on our porch to leave an ad and gracie (my cocker spaniel) about had a fit...charged the door barking and the (poor) jumped so high, his ads all falling and he picked them up quickly and ran from my house...I laughed so hard...she loves to bark, but then will cower...she thinks she owns this street...LOL

ESP

this happens all of the time, but 2 instances...
I swear Tim and I have ESP...
Saturday, we were trying to think of a place to eat that we haven't been to and I was thinking Shakey's but I did not think it was Tim's kinda place (turned out it wasn't) so I didn't say anything and all of a sudden, he says, "hey let's try Shakey's...weird huh?
then this morning, I took hamburger out of the freezer to make sloppy joes for dinner and just now, Tim emails and says, "how about sloppy joes for dinner?" I love me some Tim...

giraffe what she wore

one of my favorite's from Crazy 8 ...also got her the matching short set and headband...

Mother's Day at Disneyland

this was actually the best
day that we have had at Disney in a very long time...it's hard when you have season passes to pick
the best day to go...we almost always pick the busiest days for some reason...we thought it might
get packed on Mother's Day, but we got there when it first opened and got on 15 rides in the first 2 hours...we had such a great time...hubby went to spend the day with his mom and dropped us off and
then picked us up about 8 1/2 hours later...

Mother's Day with littles

freckles and reading and AR's

I have said before that Mr. Rincon, Zoe's teacher is a no fluff, no frills type of teacher and we love that about him...Zoe has never been a math "kid" ever since first grade...she is terrific at writing and reading and everything else but always struggled with math...Mr. Rincon has gotten her up to speed and says she is ready for sixth grade (yay right???) but saying that they do no art in his class and Zoe was a little jealous that other 5th grade classes were doing mother's day presents...she forgot that I signed her up for a mother's day making class at the museum tomorrow...worked out so perfectly...and I have a little craft time planned for tomorrow night too...

Mr. Rincon and I wereboth proud of Zoe last week...she was doing homework with a friend from another class...this little girl has always been in GATE classes and did not understand her math...Zoe says, "here let me show you how Mr. Rincon does it..." and her friend then understood it completely...I was amazed and so proud of my princess...

so for what she wore...another Hanna Andersson...love it...

TGIF's for dinner (Tim's treat) and then went to Barnes & Noble (like to keep Zoe and Sian up on their reading goals for AR's)...Si loves the Fairy series, and Zoe currently loves the Kingdom Keepers (she met the author and got his signature at D23 last year) and she also loves the Babysitter Club series of books...in 2nd grade Zoe was the highest student for her class level for AR's and this year has met and gone above AR goals...she currently is at 175% of her goal for this trimester...very proud of both of them...want to work this summer on getting Sian's goals up for next year...

love these freckles

Sam's school had Open House tonight and Zozo went with her and just came home and was so excited about her new books..,.I told her she can't touch them tho, cause with these ones, I am currently stocking up for the summer...right now, she can go to the school library and get her books...now, she is disappointed...Tim also started her last time on Tales of the 6th Grade Muppet series and bought her the new one too but it also is for summer...

babysitting

I babysat all (A.L.L.) day (& it is always a long day) he is dropped off roughly at 5am and is picked up about 4 or so...the really bad part is getting up so early tho most days I am at least thinking of getting up about that time...I guess what is hard is knowing that I have to get up...Cj gets right up on the couch, covers up, and goes back to sleep for approx. 4 hours...(now that is really nice......) I try to go back to sleep, but right after Cj goes to sleep is about the time Tim gets up for work and then Zoe always decides that she has forgotten something at my house...so I do get about an hour, give or take...but once the little monster gets up, it is a non stop, non quiet day, A.L.L. day...
what I really like, is that it is giving him and me time with each other and I appreciate him so much now...I was only seeing him, maybe 2 weekends a month and now it is a couple of days every week...he really is a neat kid...
this pic is of Cj showing me how to count...LOL

lunch on the lawn

Zoe was very popular at lunch at school today, wonder if it had anything to do with the 2 pizzas I brought?  even a girl that is usually mean to Zoe was there...ummmm really?

sick princess

Crazy 8 (what else?) was out shopping and got a call from school princess was sick, cut shopping off early...was going to Crazy 8 and Carters (baby girl needs some summery outfits)...maybe can go back tomorrow?
when I bought this dotted skirt and top was not all that crazy about it, but think it looks very cute on her...

princess has not been feeling well for several days, maybe a week or so...started with coming home from her dad's being dizzy for 20+ minutes...took to dr, he said to watch and document it...so, it has continued....last night she comes to me and says, "grandma, I really do not feel good, do I have a fever?" felt her and quite the opposite, very cold and clammy and pale...but no symptoms she can r...eally pinpoint...woke up this am, still took her to school as there is state testing and I hate her to miss...spoke to Mr Rincon and said if she was still sick, to send her home after testing...so he did...tonight? she maybe feels a tad better, but she has in the past also, and then started again...the one thing I can think is maybe once he changed her from loratadine to zyrtec, maybe it is the side effects of the zyrtec, so she has had none since yesterday, so we shall see...that would be a much better scenario than where my head is going...we will see how she is tomorrow...you know something is wrong when she comes home from playing with her friends and said she cannot go back cause when she does not feel good, it is difficult to play...

love this dress

Crazy 8, yes this is the dress that I had to have...and I am very happy with it...the leggings from Childrens Place go so well with the dress...whenever I see leggings on sale I always stock up and then just hope I will find something to go with them, in this case I did well, or so I think...

all four babies

not sure how the other grandparents do "it" 24/7...ready to pull my hair out after a couple of hours...LOL...4 kids under the age of 11??? umm no thanks (kidding) I am trying really hard to help out where I can...and actually they were all pretty well behaved...the baby? loves to be held the whole time and Sian and Zoe are so good together...Cj takes a little to keep him occupied...otherwise, alls well that ends well

Cj waits all day for Tim to come home, asks me 50 million times a day when is "Min Min" (what all of the grandkids call him) coming home and will have to check the sidewalk constantly to see if he is coming, that is the one thing that will keep him behaving, threatening him with Min Min...

another Hanna for what she wore

Tim's night out

important first aid

in third grade at Charter School, Zoe took as a personal choice class, a first aid class...it sure came in handy for this wonderful smart little girl tonight...she came thru with flying colors...I am so proud of her...Samantha was making dinner, draining the pasta, and somehow the pasta pan dropped into the sink, forcing the water onto Sam's chest...Zoe right away knew what to do and got her mom i...nto a cold shower, then called me...she remembered to make a paste of honey and flour and had it ready by the time I got there...Zoe's quick thinking I am sure saved Sam from being more severely injured & being blistered...Zoe sweetie you are a God send and a terrific little girl...she is now waiting hand and foot on her mom...

student of the month

meet my little "student of the month" Zozo...am very proud of her

Cj

Cj was very good for me today (well he is always good for me, waiting for the shoe to drop or something like that)...started off the day by having breakfast at Mc Donalds, then shopping and he got an Avenger's mask...then, he had to have a bath with his new bath toys...finished off his day with me by waiting for Zoe and Lauren to come home to play outside with them...

once a month, I have been buying something online and having it sent to my littles so they have plenty to do this summer...this month?
I sent this.....think Cj will love it...when I gave him the big bag of sand toys I got to go with it, he said, "oh thank you Goma, I have always wanted sand toys..." poor little disadvantaged child, never had sand toys before?" umm ya right!!!

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Little-Tikes-33rd-Anniversary-Edition-Turtle-Sandbox/16451744

it's funny that Cj says bemember instead of remember and becept instead of except and spicy chips scratch his tongue...LOL...

I kept meaning to make Cj a superman cape like the one I had made Tim when he was little...kept putting it off as I have no time, found exact one on ebay...it is reversible

may menus

OK...my menus for May and links are FINALLY completed (that took awhile) but now at least the links are all in one spot for me to click to...thought I would never get done...now onto coupons, and making grocery list...

yellow jacket

about a month ago at Crazy 8, the princess fell in love with this jacket and she wanted it very badly...it.was.$38.00...but I thought Ok I coulld swing it if she wanted it that badly...so I bought it much to Sam's shock...(hey I do not spend that on myself) but my grandkids? so, I bought it and she put it on immed. right in the store, we went to dinner and one of the petals on the buttons fell off...so we took it back and they did not have another in her size...fast forward a couple of weeks...it went on big time sale, and then I also had a 20% coupon off of that...so, yeah she once again owns the jacket and has been waiting for a "coolish" day to wear it...

Hanna's what she wore

love this black and white combination from Hanna Andersson...bought 5 pieces to it...
